BIOGRAPHY
He was born Randy Lee Rainey on November 23, 1966, in Wyandotte,
Michigan. He grew up in a household filled with music - his mother
sang in the church choir and his father sang and played a guitar.
Randy remembers that as early as eight years old he had developed
a deep love for music. Randy has always been a fan of gospel music
and was inspired by gospel artist Phil Driscoll.
In 1981, Randy began playing the trumpet. He played in the school
band under direction of James Skura, to whom Randy gives much of
the credit for his music abilities. Randy has his own singing style.
He sings under the name "Sound of Praise."
In
April 2006, he was discovered while participating in a Karaoke contest
by Motown legends Joe Billingslea and THE CONTOURS. Since then,
he has been working with two of the members of that group, Charles
Davis and Odell Jones, honing his vocal and performance skills.
Within a few months, he was hired as the opening act for a show
featuring The Contours and The Miracles. In March 2007, he released
his first CD, "Angel Eyes," titled for one of the album's songs
co-written by Randy, Charles and Odell. The CD also includes "Bed
Of Roses", "Lady", "Almost Like A Song", "Can You Feel The Love?"
and eight other selections including the gospel standard "Amazing
Grace."
Randy has traveled around the country opening for such acts as
Joe Billingslea and THE CONTOURS the Miracles. He has also played
at many churches and charity events. He gives thanks and praise
to God for all his talents. His goal is to travel around the world,
to play and sing his music. |
